How the calculator works

Enter your total income, then add each expense with a name and amount. Add or remove rows as you need. Your totals update automatically:

Profit = Income − Total expenses

Use income and expenses from the same period, and count each expense once. Include taxes if you want them reflected in your result.

What do these numbers tell you?

A positive result means the income you entered is greater than your expenses. A negative result means you spent more than you made. Look through the named costs to see what makes up the total.

Frequently asked questions

How is the result calculated?

Subtract your total expenses from your income. Enter the money you made, then add each expense once. The result updates as you type.

What does the percentage mean?

Profit margin is the share of your income left after the expenses you entered. If you make $100 and spend $70, you keep $30, or 30%. There is no single margin target for every business.

What expenses can I add?

Add any cost that belongs to the work you are checking, such as travel, supplies, software, fees, or taxes. Give each expense a name and amount. Use the same period for your income and expenses.

Is this profit calculator free?

Yes. It is free, requires no signup, and runs in your browser. Your numbers are not sent anywhere.
